Growing up my families violins all came from Frank Williams at Victoria point. A retired minister he came to luthiering later in life and was the goto guy on the Southside for violin repairs and secondhand violins and had a violin and music shop on Queens Street in the city for a time. Indeed my favourite violin is a heavily repaired “German trade fiddle” from him (see my violins) and one my sisters is one of French heritage from him. I still meet people who remember him fondly. His passion was for inlay work and in particular work on making dulcimers. In time his business passed to his son Evan Williams , who today runs StringTech down Logan way for repairing and servicing violin and other string instruments (UPDATE recently retired). Its really nice to see generational traditions emerging in such a young country.
