Hi there and welcome to my suburban violin workshop, right here in Mt.Gravatt, Mansfield on Brisbane’s Southside. I’ve been playing for over 40 years and understand the sweet spot between sound quality and affordability. For new and preloved violins, accesserories as well as all bowed string repair and restorations. See also my restored antiques if you are after something unique.

I’m an Authorised dealer for the following music industry suppliers of instruments, just like the big music shops. Custom orders from their respective catalogues are welcome (click logo to see their items).

About my instruments

All new instruments that I prepare from these suppliers are further setup by myself to my own specifications (or yours) to enhance sound and playability. My offer to you is good service, quality and after sales support, whilst still maintaining the recommended retail price (RRP). All instruments come with Australian warranties standard.

My Community and you

If you like music and violins you are welcome at my shop, relax and don’t feel preassured to spend big… pull up a chair and lets work together. In addition to parents and players of all abilities and ages, I also supply instruments to a number of schools in the local area and undertake repair and setup work for schools, music stores and a distributor.

As a parent, player and repairer I have a good knowledge of what teachers like, what sounds good for the price, is robust for students and how instruments behave in the tough Australian environments.

Dan was so kind and helpful with my daughter's new (secondhand) violin. As someone who has very little knowledge about violins myself, it was reassuring to receive advice from someone so experienced and generous with his knowledge, to make violin ownership/maintenance a little less daunting.

My son broke the strings of his violin yesterday and we need to have it fix before Monday. I found Fiddler Dan Violins & Workshop (via internet search) and called Dan to check my son's violin. Dan was so so helpful. He helped restore an old friend to me, my first instrument, my beloved double bass, fixing the neck the fingerboard and damage to the side, amazing work and helped me to work in stages with my budget. Mr Fiddler was so helpful with fixing the broken string. He even tuned the violin without me asking for it. Definitely come back if my kids messed up with their violins down the track. I took my mandolin to Dan to check a couple of problems. He fixed them on the spot, but also showed me how to do it myself. After giving me advice about another instrument and some cello strings, he would accept only the cost of a cup of coffee for his trouble. I highly recommend Dan, a highly skilled and generous man. Dan was amazing! He had my daughter play the different violins to see which one she could get a better sound out of. She now has a beautiful violin, bow, and chin rest with rosin. It is just above an entry level full sized 4/4 violin, and it has higher quality strings on it. It is gorgeous with a beautiful sound, and my daughter and I are so happy with our purchase. 🎻 Edit: We are back nine months later getting a string replaced, and Dan went through some basic techniques with my daughter, as we weren't able to secure a tutor where we lived. It just made her day, and she was so proud of her progress. She is so much more confident with holding the bow and everything. Dan is most certainly, the man! 10/10 would recommend!
