If your violin’s bow hair is looking a little thin, brittle, grimey, yellowed with age or no longer holding its rosin properly then your violin bow is likely due for a rehair.
During this time sometime you might like a thumb leather replaced, or have other bow repair aspects attended to as well.
No two bows are the same and during the disassembly of the frog and tip, to remove and replace the wedges, its time top clean the components and stick from build up of grime and or rosin. Bows are one of the components of an instrument put under the most stress and yet also the most delicate so a good time to inspect it as well..
I rehair with Mongolian horse hair and have some black hair available as well. I can do violin, violin cello and double bass bows. I generally turn around a bow in around a week and return it un-rosined, due to the great variety of rosins musicians prefer.

I rehair bows for serious amateurs and professionals a like. If you have a very valuable bow, you may like to see one of Brisbane’s senior bow luthiers.
