Are your violin pegs slipping or stuck, it might be a case of a peg service or replacement.

Violin pegs are made of a variety of materials and over time wear our both the pegs and the peg box. To keep them running well they need to be lubricated and occasionally the peg box needs reaming to keep the holes in the correct shape and a string hole may need to be redrilled if a string isn’t sitting in the correct place or stoping a peg from holding tune. Pegs sometime break and may need replacing, either one or the whole set. In the case of older instruments I often recommend replacing the whole set – where the pegs have often dried out or running on a taper that is less suited to todays higher tension strings.
Sometimes cracks arise in the pegbox for which there are a variety of solutions depending on how severe the repair is. These include fitting a pag box check or a bushing
