Tricky Fingers is the book series for beginning violinists and other string instruments developed by Brisbane legend, and long time friend, Timo Jarvela. Timo was inspired by the Colour strings method and his book integrates time, left and right hand coordination progressively with plenty of room for the teachers input. One of the features of the books is that it leaves out much of the complexity of music notations to focus on playing and enjoyment..,.critical elements to engage young players.
From my time in motor learning and skill acquisition I like the way each element builds slowly.
Probably my favourite part of the book is where there is encouragement to name ones violin….its a little thing but building a bond between instrument and player has to help that little bit more I reckon
