Violin Pickups Overview

If you are interested in an electric violin, sometimes your current violin will do you just fine. There are a range of pickup available that  can be fitted to the bridge of the violin to pick up the vibrations to be turned into sound.

Of the many models available, each of them have  their advantages and disadvantages, so I like to work with you to try and get one that best suits your needs.

Be it the Realist, KNA, Baggs or something else.

In general I find the KNA  to be a good fit for many  people wanting to try out pickups, wether that be the bridge retrofit or the stick on for a really natural sound.

The industry standard is the Baggs pickup, which is built into the bridge (a three tree despite no less) so its not cheap, but is certainly robust an reliable.

The realist under bridge is another pickup I really like as it captures a bit more of the resonance of the violin, the only down side is it raises the bridge slightly so you have to trim your bridge height.
