One of the challenges of the classical music traditions is that whilst we strive for perfection, sometimes that can get in the way of enjoyment. You don’t have to be the best, strive for it sure…but make sure you are enjoying it along the way.
My Mando taught me this, just this last weekend. An idealic setting, relaxing and enjoying playing some music with family….even if i did forget my pick!

As someone who has very little knowledge about violins myself, it was reassuring to receive advice from someone so experienced and generous with his knowledge, to make violin ownership/maintenance a little less daunting.

I found Fiddler Dan Violins & Workshop (via internet search) and called Dan to check my son's violin. He was very accommodating and asked me to come over. Dan fixed our violin in no time. Definitely come back if my kids messed up with their violins down the track. Jacqueline Avery2023-06-03Dan was amazing! He had my daughter play the different violins to see which one she could get a better sound out of. She now has a beautiful violin, bow, and chin rest with rosin. It is just above an entry level full sized 4/4 violin, and it has higher quality strings on it. It is gorgeous with a beautiful sound, and my daughter and I are so happy with our purchase. 🎻 Edit: We are back nine months later getting a string replaced, and Dan went through some basic techniques with my daughter, as we weren't able to secure a tutor where we lived. It just made her day, and she was so proud of her progress. She is so much more confident with holding the bow and everything. Dan is most certainly, the man! 10/10 would recommend!
