I get a surprising number of calls from Townsville, Mackay and Far North Queensland for Violin repairs and slaes to. i get it there isn’t a dedicated violin and string shop in Townsville Mackay or anywhere in the Fra North for that matter, but there is a dedicated strings community up there.
Many of my enquiries make a trip to Brisbane every so often, or just want a Queenslander who understands the challenges the Qld environment puts on string instruments to attend to their repair or sales needs.
A couple of ways to go:
- Come see me when you first arrive in Brisbane (by appointment of course) and will try to attend to your repair before your return journey (Some repairs take days if there are multiple stages to it and glues need to set properly
- Posting of instruments is relatively inexpensive ~$50 including insurance for intermediate instruments which is another way to go
